Update, 4:40 p.m.: Traffic through the area appears to be returning to normal.
Update, 3:40 p.m.: Police have recovered the Jeep. The suspect appears to still be at large. There is no information available on whether he is armed.
Update, 3:15 p.m.: A CPD officer this afternoon spotted a carjacking suspect from an incident in Montgomery County near Governor’s Square in Clarksville, according to police spokesman Detective Michael Patterson.
After the suspect was spotted, he ran from the vehicle, Patterson said.
In the carjacking, at about 8:15 a.m. today, a red 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen on North Hinton Road, southeast of Clarksville.
MCSO is working with CPD to search the area for the suspect.
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A heavy police presence near Governor’s Square had Wilma Rudolph Boulevard blocked in both directions Saturday afternoon.
At 3 p.m., traffic was blocked on the highway and several people reported seeing Clarksville Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicles all over the area, some officers with guns drawn.
Clarksville Now has reached out to CPD and MCSO for information.
