Trump’s gene comments ‘indistinguishable from Nazi rhetoric’, expert on Holocaust says
Another of the president’s remarks in Bemidji that caused a stir was his praise of the Minnesota locals for having “good genes”.
“This state was pioneered by men and women who braved the wilderness and the winters to build a better life for themselves and for their families. They were tough, and they were strong. You have good genes, you know that, right?” Mr Trump said to applause from supporters.
“You have good genes. A lot of it’s about the genes isn’t it, don’t you believe? The racehorse theory you think was so different? You have good genes in Minnesota.”
For science writer Steve Silberman, this smacked of Nazi eugenics.
“As a historian who has written about the Holocaust, I’ll say bluntly: This is indistinguishable from the Nazi rhetoric that led to Jews, disabled people, LGBTQ, Romani and others being exterminated,” he tweeted.

Trump mocks journalist shot by rubber bullets during George Floyd protests
Speaking at a “Great American Comeback” rally in Bemidiji, Minnesota, on Friday night, the president derided MSNBC reporter Ali Velishi, who was shot by local police with dummy ammo while covering the Black Lives Matter protests in Minneapolis on 30 May.
Trump felt it appropriate to describe this literal assault on the free press as “a beautiful thing”.

Trump gripes about pet grievances in latest Fox interview
After having a bad time of it with the public on ABC last week, the president was back serving up exclusive interviews in his preferred media safe-space yesterday.
He spent his latest free therapy session with Mark Levin complaining about his enemies in the press, from the “disgusting” Washington Post to the “stone-cold dishonest” CNN and murmuring darkly about “toughening up libel laws”.
Trump then offered his bizarre take on environmental mismanagement in California, which he continues to insist is the reason for its savage wildfires, not climate change.
